Induction?

I get induced Monday and was wondering how fast will this be? How fast do contractions start? Also a first time so please be kind.

That depends on several things: how effaced you are. You have to thin out before dilation will progress past 4cm I believe so if you are pretty thin/effaced it might go quicker. Are you already dilated? Usually with an induction they don't have you walk around because they want to monitor the baby. They will have a ball or rocking chair. I would use those and walk around in the room if possible to help progress labor. They will start the pitocin at about 2 units to ease your body into it. I would recommend three things: 1. walking if possible or a rocking motion on a ball to help thin the cervix. 2. If they can break your water sooner have them do it because the prostaglandins in the water help with dilation and speed labor up. 3. If you plan on getting an epidural and aren't progressing then get it. I have seen plently of moms labor for hours at a 2 or 3 then get an epidural and their body relaxes and they delivered within 2-3 hours (not a guarantee though). If you do get an epidural keep your legs flat on the bed for 10-15min after to make sure the meds spread evenly. And have them roll you on your side and keep lying on your side. This will help effac/thin you for delivery. Good luck!

I think a general rule of thumb is that everyone is different. It's hard to compare yourself to someone else because your body and your baby has a mind of it's own lol! 
For me, I had to be induced at 40 weeks + 3 days. My baby was too comfy and stubborn! And my body was weird but awesome at the same time! I was induced on a Thursday night around 5pm. I didn't realize I was even having contractions. I thought the baby was just kicking and squirming. It didn't hurt. The nurses watched the monitor and were like whoa that's a big one! I was like a big what? I had no idea! (Apparently I have a weirdly high pain tolerance) So I was induced Thursday at 5pm and my baby arrived Friday at 4:30pm. But my active labour was only half an hour. The pressure and pushing was from 4 to 4:30 and mine was epidural free because I waited too long to call for the anesthesiologist. Oops. Lol. It'll be different for every mama!

You’re going to get different answers because it’s a different experience for everyone. I was induced in labor for 30 plus hours pushed 51 mins before my son was born. A month later sister went to be induced was in labor for 4 hours or so pushed twice had my niece. So you just never know.

I went in for induction Thursday night ended up in a c section the next night at 9:30. I wasn’t progressing and his hr dropped into the 30s

It depends. For our first I was induced and it was a 36 hour labor which ended in an emergency c-section. Horrible labor and stopped dilating at 6cm. Our son was also under a lot of stress as his heart rate kept dropping. Won’t do that again!  
I’m due with baby#2 this Friday and we have a planned c-section due to the fact they would have had to induce me again as I have gestational diabetes again. Seeing how our first went, we took the recommendation of our doctor and will do a c section.

It depends, i got induced on a monday at 8am and didnt have my baby until tuesday at 625am it was a c aection as well, so just go in with an open mind and keep calm and just remeber its all about you and the baby being good and healthy. You got this, good luck.
