Well are you looking to settle just because you want to be married or have a real good relationship with someone? There is a difference. I've been with my fiancee for 10 years this past 4/17. We have a house, cars, boat, and babys(will be 3 on 5/25 and another to be born in june). Still not married been engaged for 3 1/2 years. Marriage is a big deal to some people but in my eyes all i see is $$$. I would love a decent little wedding but...$$$. I would rather spend money on my babies, house ect.... (we wouldnt have help paying for a wedding) i think another part for me is in not a big planner either. Everyone has their own expectations. To each their own!

If you need the ring to feel secure, don't get married. A piece of jewlery and paper doesn't make someone stay, just makes leaving more complicated. 
My SO and I have been together 7 years. He proposed last September, we will be married in June. 
We didn't really plan to get married. We've known for years we wanted to be together and were committed.  We decided to make it legal to ensure some protections as next of kin and estates (kids, house, assets, etc). The wedding is a celebration of our love and commitment. The marriage document is basically just ensuring the other isn't facing a battle in emergency or bad situations.

I couldnt care less about a proposal, my relationships extremely stable and I have no doubts or insecurities. It’ll happen when it happens we just enjoy life together.

Yeah 2 years max! My husband wanted to marry me faster but we just didnt have the time, we waited 2 years.

It depends on how bad you want it. My husband and I were together 7 years when our son was born, he proposed later that summer (I had a bit of a postpartum meltdown about the baby having a different last name from me 🤪) However were still not legally married, we just refer to each other as husband and wife lol

No kids, but I moved from PA to CA to be with my now husband. (Had been together 8 months) Then we moved to Texas for his job, bought a house (had been together for almost 3 years), rescued four Furrbabies(had been together 5 years), then made the decision to move to Tennessee(been together 7 years). Still no ring. But I wasn't going to be happier settling for someone else. He was the one so I was patient. On our house hunting trip in TN (7 years 9 months) he finally proposed. I was sick of waiting so we got married 3 months later. Lol
