Family events

My husband never wants to attend my family events. My family doesn’t do a lot typically holidays and wedding and so on. My husbands family celebrates each birthday separately, all holidays and has family dinner once a week. I’m so hurt my nieces birthday falls on his family dinner day and he looked at me like I had 2 heads when I asked if he wanted to go with me. I’m just not going to say anything and go on my own. I feel so disappointed my family is much smaller and I feel like he doesn’t care.
