Have you introduced peanut butter?

I want to try giving my daughter peanut butter. I know they say wait if parents have an allergy, which neither of us do, but I'm still afraid. Am I just being crazy? Tips on ways to introduce it?

I spread a thin layer on toast for my son, he loves it. You could also put a little on your finger and rub it inside your baby's cheek. I was nervous at first too, but he does fine with it!

My baby has eczema and still have an intolerance to cow's milk, as I have a lot of intolerances. My peadiatrician told me to give him peanut butter so that it may reduce an allergy in later life. We will be trying it this weekend as I was trying to find a low salt, low sugar one and just bought one. All the best of luck and I'm sure your little one be will love it. I'll probably have peanut butter toast with him too (not just the one that ends up on his trousers) 🤣🤣

It’s so scary at first but our doctor provided us with Benadryl dosage in case of mild allergies and she advised us about severe allergies so we knew what to do. Talk to your pediatrician so you can be a bit more calm introducing it. Something she advised is to feed early in the morning like that if you do have to go see the pediatrician, you’ll be able to get an appointment as opposed to giving it at the evening.

Yes, we introduced it at 6 months and I give it to her once a week. You want to offer those high risk foods early and often. I know it is scary the first time, but if you and dad are not allergic, then the chances are low! :)

You can also mix powdered peanut butter into yogurt or apple sauce, etc. and don’t be nervous! The research shows that early introduction actually helps decrease the chance of peanut allergies as long as you don’t have other considerations like parent allergies or eczema.

I got puffworks baby peanut butter puffs. She loves them! They have it on their website, I got it on amazon. She snacks on it every other day.

My doctor said to introduce at 6 months and to give it once a week to prevent chance of allergy. I was nervous too, but just put a bit on your finger let them lick it.  Now I just put a little spoon in her oatmeal. All high risk allergen foods shouldn’t just be given once but regularly (weekly). I still need to do all of the tree nuts.. apparently Costco has a bit spread that has all of the tree nuts in it so I’m going to try that :)

Neither of us have food allergies, but baby had 2 reactions to peanut butter so now I have to keep an epipen in his diaper bag. The allergist will re-evaluate him at 13 months.
