Mamas that tore, how long until sex no longer hurt? I’m at 6 months and that spot is still really sensitive.

I’m only 8wk pp after a 4th degree tear so I can’t answer that yet - haven’t tried. However I have started pelvic physio therapy and I would highly recommend. They specifically assess and release scar tissue and any areas of tension.

So I found out that it really shouldn’t still hurt that long after. You can do massage to help break up the scare tissue and desensitize the nerves that are triggering the pain. I ended up doing pelvic floor PT so the therapist did it for me but the Dr. gave me and my husband some info on it. Apparently it’s most effective if the massage is also used as foreplay, and helps with the reintroduction to sex. Anyway, I do recommend having a dr take a look at it.

At least 6 - 12 months for me... Honestly it hurt every time but seened to get less and less as we tried it more.  I tore pretty bad and had a LOT of stitches though.

I'm sorry you're still having issues at 6 months PP... I had a 2nd degree internal tear, and by 6wks I was ready for sexy time and didn't have much discomfort past the 8wk mark...
Maybe consult with your OB to see if there's anything that can help

Mine hurt for at least 6-9 months. It was uncomfortable/tight and felt different to before

8-12 months. I had several second degree tears

Third degree tear. We had to use lube when we started up again. I think it was 7 months. By the time it was a year, I felt like my normal self to a degree.

At my 6 week follow up I mentioned I was still having a lot of discomfort just in general. It was bad enough that I couldn’t fall asleep. My midwife prescribed an estrogen cream and it took care of it in a couple of weeks. You’re six months so I don’t know if that would apply to you but I wanted to mention it in case it could help. If you are breastfeeding you could still have low estrogen which might contribute to discomfort.

I had a second degree tear with my first and honestly 2.5 years later certain positions can still make it uncomfortable. 🤷🏻‍♀️ but for the most part it was ok after 6 months.
