Is my baby safe rolling in the bassinet?

I’ve been working hard to get my son comfortable being unswaddle out of the dockatot. Last night my husband freaked out because he was on his tummy sleeping in our bed. He was having an extremely rough night which is how he ended up in our bed. Well he is in the bassinet tonight next to me but I won’t wake up when he rolls over which I do when he is in the bed. But I sleep with heavy comforters and a soft bed so I know he is probably safer in his own bassinet. He loves to sleep on his side. I can’t get him to stay on his back. Is he safe if he rolls over? The manufacture says that the weight limit is 33 pounds or when baby can push up on hands and knees.

He’s safe in the bassinet girl! And it’s great that he’s in your room with you, that’s actually recommended by the AAP! As long as he isn’t over 33lbs (LOL) you’re good or sitting up you’re good!

I think you should try putting him in his crib. My 4 month old has slept well in his crib from 10 weeks old. He sleeps in a sleep sack. He has been rolling over on his tummy since 3.5 months. He has slept great this way.

Hey girl! My little one was sleeping in her halo bassinest and she kept rolling in her sleep I was so paranoid about her sleeping on her tummy bc I didn’t want her to suffocate. I ended up moving her out of her halo bassinest and into the halo dreamnest. The mattress is completely breathable! Also I called my dr and asked them what to do with my baby bc she would literally turn to her tummy when I would barley put her down for sleep, they said once babies can turn to their tummy and can hold their head up well than there’s no need to turn them back on their backs. Just place your baby on his back when you put him in the crib. After that it’s out of your control!

I read a comment suggesting sleep postioners. Please do not do this!!
Some manufacturers have advertised that their sleep positioners prevent SIDS; gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), in which stomach acids back up into the esophagus; or flat head syndrome (plagiocephaly), a deformation caused by pressure on one part of the skull.
Here are the facts:
The FDA has never cleared an infant sleep positioner that claims to prevent or reduce the risk of SIDS.
The FDA had previously cleared some infant positioners for GERD or flat head syndrome.
In 2010, the FDA became aware of infant positioners being marketed with SIDS claims and notified manufacturers to stop marketing these devices and submit information to support FDA clearance.
The FDA intends to take action against device manufacturers who make unproven medical claims about their products. You can do your part to keep your baby safe by not using sleep positioners.

How big / sturdy is the bassinet? Sometimes baby rolls over into the walls and can topple it if it isn't super sturdy. However it is perfectly safe for a baby to sleep on their tummy once they can get there themselves (as long as their arms are free like your LO).

You could always try one of the anti roll wedges in. It will let him sleep on his side but not roll over onto his tummy.
