Would you buy a used baby swing/bouncer?

Question

I’m a FTM and a lot of items off my registry weren’t purchased. I thought maybe I could just get them second hand off Facebook marketplace or resell apps. I’ve bought plenty from them before. But is this okay for babies? I’m not sure if there is really a way to sanitize the cloth parts. Or should I buy them new? I’d almost rather buy used because some are only $30 and in great condition rather than $150 for brand new.

It’s definitely fine. All of my sons things are ‘used’ but they were barley used. Nothing I bought was dirty, and I covered the materials with my own anyways.

Most swings/bouncers and stuff like that have a removable cover that you can just throw in wash.
Plus baby wont be living in a sterile world, no need to sanitize everything baby touches. Its actually good for them to have certain exposures

I bought my swing at a consignment sale where I could see it in person to know it was in good condition. It’s the Fisher Price Snugapuppy cradle n swing and I was able to remove all the fabric pieces to wash except the little toys on the mobile but he can’t reach to tough those.

I bought my snug a pup swing, snug a pup bouncer, mamaroo, bumbo, exersauscer, and floor seat all used. They looked brand new and I washed everything that could be washed on them. And saved tons of money!! I even bought my rocker/glider used and I reupholstered it to match his  room.

Yup my baby’s swing is used! We got it from a friend. Just washed it real well and it’s good as new! Not everything needs to be bought brand new

I'm too afraid to bring bed bugs in. A friend of mine bought a used bouncer and it infested her house there were apparently eggs in it that hatched. So I've been a freak about everything being brand new

Swings and bouncers you can usually put the cloth part in the wash fairly easily and then wipe down the rest. I bought mine used.

My cousin gave me her swing from when she was nannying. The cloth part on this particular swing is completely removable so I threw it in the washing machine

There’s nothing wrong with it. I got mine for free because my neighbors were getting rid of it and it was the exact one we wanted and when the time comes closer the cover is removable so I’ll just wash it and wipe everything down. The only issue lies in the fact that if you buy it used and it breaks you have no warranty and will likely have to purchase another. That happened with my first daughter and we were out of luck until we could go to the store and get another and for some it’s not always easy to just drop $100. Not to mention she loved her swing so it was really hard to go without it for a couple days. So it really just depends on if the deal is good enough.
