No sperm...what to do next? 😢
Hi all. So my husband just had a biopsy two days ago and they were still unable to find sperm. The biopsy consisted of the urologist, fertility doctors, and pathologists taking a part of tissue and examining it. The doctor has ruled out genetics, hormones, and a blockage. So he is saying it is due to a production issue.
He suggested going for an MTESE but I would need to go through the process of IVF (in vitro fertilization) (in vitro fertilization) prep before so we could do the transfer the same day they did the MTESE. His reasoning for this was because if they were still unable to find sperm in my husband’s biopsy, more than likely the chances of them finding mature viable sperm in an MTESE is slim. So he said it would be better to do the transfer the same day because IF they found any sperm, there would be more of a chance of it surviving for IVF.
The doctor suggested us at least trying MTESE because then we would at least know we tried everything we could. Our insurance covers fertility treatments/ IVF (in vitro fertilization) (in vitro fertilization) which is a huge blessing, but I’m just scared of facing another potential heartbreak.
We aren’t really open to sperm donation, but have considered traditional adoption or even embryo adoption. We are just trying to let all of this soak in and we are very overwhelmed.
Does anyone have any advice or words of encouragement/ stories of success?
