Privacy of Infants/children

In central Europe they make a big deal about protecting babies/childrens privacy by not exposing their faces in social media.

There was an contest ad on FB to apply for the best babies smile and to win 1000€. The comments were harsh from whoever exposes their child like this is a sell out, half naked babies in the ad to judging parents whoever considers to apply for it.

I understand that privacy for each individual should be protected but at the same there are FB pictures shared with family and friends that don't get to to see the kid and it's quiet harmless.
