Pumping to create stash before heading back to work... after nursing baby, do you just pump from the breast that baby didn’t nurse or both?

Any advice regarding this would be greatly received!  Thanks ladies!  I use a Madela double pump and have a manual pump as well, also Madela.

Depends on if baby nurses from one breast or both.

If you pump after baby you will trick your body into making a little bit more. If baby goes 3 or more hours between feedings you can also pump about an hour after you feed. Then you still have time to replenish.

I would wait an hour after pumping or I would pump after baby went to sleep before my own bedtime.

Be sure to freeze, thaw and taste test your milk before building a stash. I had high lipase milk that tasted soapy after thawing unless I scalded it before freezing. 🤦‍♀️

I used to rotate my child on both breast when she was a baby because to me, one side felt heavier when I didn’t do that.
