Any LEO / police officer mommies? 👮‍♀️👩‍👧🤰

Hi ladies! So iam a police officer and I'm 8+3 still on patrol. I have been a bit worried Being that our equipment is approximately 20lbs n most of it its carried on our gunbelt. I would love to wait until 12 weeks, however I know it might not be the smartest thing to do. When did you guys tell the job and went modified duty?

I think for any job you should tell your boss right away. There's a lot of planning and they may need to move you and that can take time.

I worked patrol up until 16 weeks and then went and helped out in detectives until 20 weeks. I then went out on disability and am 34 weeks now. My dept was really awesome about it and let me decide when I wanted to do everything. I took myself off patrol due to my pants starting to not fit (and I wasnt about to spend a ton of money on new ones!) and i didnt want to put any of my partners at risk due to me not being 100%.

I’m late to this party lol but I told my dept at about 8 weeks. It was after my first doctors appt and I asked to go on light duty. My dept was awesome and accommodating. 
To me, it was not worth the risk of getting into a fight or getting hurt. The mental aspect too of not being 100% played a huge roll too. I was also worried about the next call. Not to mention exhausted lol

I work at a PD (support services) and we’ve had officers tell their sergeants right away. I believe they offered them a spot at the front counter or some sort of clerical spot. But they’ll keep it a secret if you want them to.
