Fresh or Frozen embryo transfer??

Anyone knows which is better? Also pros and cons?

I don’t usually respond, but I thought I would give you my insight. I went through IVF with my own eggs and did a frozen transfer because I had to have a polyp removed from my uterus before we implanted the egg. It was successful immediately, but unfortunately I lost it not too far after. We then decided to do a fresh transfer with two eggs and neither one took. I would say from all of the studies frozen seems to be the way to go. Just do your research and of course ask opinions. The next rounds I do will all be frozen because I have embabies waiting for me...I. PRAGUE 😁 (that’s a whole other story and savings of over $20,000) Good luck!

My RE only offers frozen, I delivered a son last September. The pain I went through with the retrieval was bad, I couldn’t imagine that an embryo would be able to make it through it all. I literally used a heating pad for a week straight all day and night.

I have heard frozen is better. I think because with fresh you having already been on all of those hormones so things might not be perfect in your womb. When it’s frozen you’re starting from scratch and they have much more control over the environment. I know fresh can work though and frozen might not.

I have heard frozen has better success rates. It allows your body to heal from egg retrieval and your body gets a fresh start with all the right hormones. We chose to do a frozen transfer and were successful on our first try (currently 8w+3). That being said, my best friend did a fresh transfer and was successful on her first try (her son will be 3 in June). I think it depends on your body, your embryos and your RE. Whatever you decide, good luck!!!

My RE recommends frozen. She says studies have shown giving the body time to heal and recover from the hormones helps. Although I have heard success stories from both fresh and frozen transfers.

I was told chances are better with frozen due to the fact that they say the freezing process helps weed out the poor quality or weak ones. But I have seen plenty of women have success with fresh too. I had to go frozen because my levels were not the best and we didn’t come that far to fail over a crappy hormone level lol . Good luck on your decision. I wish you the best !
