Are there any early signs anyone has experienced? 
Any tips on preventing? I have my test in 2 weeks.

Answer

There's nothing you can do to prevent it. It's not based on what you have or haven't eaten, nor how big or small you are.
Pregnancy hormones can change the way your body processes sugar (glucose) and sometimes makes it to where your body can't process it the way it should. This is why "fit" mom's can get GD and curvy mom's like myself don't get GD.
If you do end up having it, it's not your fault, and it's very manageable! 💕
