Been breastfeeding for 16mths wondering  when AF will start and could I still get pregnant

I got my first period at 9month postpartum. I got pregnant at 13months. It all really depends on the person but nursing will not keep you from getting pregnant

You can get pregnant before period returns because you ovulate before your period. So technically you could ovulate at any time while your waiting for your period (and if you get pregnant then your period obviously won’t return).. once your period returns then ovulation will be more predictable. 
I was doing a test every month whilst I was breastfeeding and not using contraception.

I got pregnant at 3 months post partum, exclusively breastfeeding, and without a period.

I didn't get pregnant while exclusively breastfeeding and it took 15 months to get my period.

You can still get pregnant once your period starts. Mine started 2 months PP and I got pregnant when my daughter was 8 months, still breastfeeding
