Do you agree? Should a spouse tell their spouse all the medical problems that runs through their family?

My grandma married my moms dad not knowing alcoholism ran threw his family. He hid his drinking from my grandma until they got married. EVERY member of my mom’s family is a serious alcoholic including her. My mom knew that but still decided to drink.  
Do you think it should be mandatory that spouses give each other family medical records? Which should be passed down to the kids?

Although everyone has a potential for addiction, some people are more predisposed to addiction.  However, drinking or doing drugs is a life choice that you make from the very beginning.  No one has to become an addict.   It isn’t a disease that just randomly sneaks up on you like cancer.

Alcoholism runs in both sides of my family, in the older generations. I don't think it should matter not super important, especially since it's an addiction. My immediate family and my aunts and uncles, grandparents, cousin's, etc now, do not have a problem. Just because Uncle Joe has alcoholism doesn't mean the kids will, doesn't work like that.

Yes but I feel like in a healthy relationship this will happen. Someone who hides their lives from you probably isn’t the best person. Also my fiancé’s side of the family has had a history of a lot of addiction. My family does not. Our little girl will grow up learning both sides but I don’t think it’s necessary it be told early either. I don’t need to introduce her to grandma and say she used to do drugs lol. It’s just unnecessary.
