Is This Rude?

My in laws are flying up to be here for the birth of our little girl. They’re so excited, it’s adorable. 
However, if they do manage to time it right and be here while I’m in labor... I don’t really know how to tell them I want to be left alone. My anxiety is going to be sky high. That alone is going to exhaust me, let alone giving birth! 
I don’t really want anyone but my fiancé in the room while I’m laboring and I definitely want an hour or two alone with baby and him afterwards. I just want to make sure I’m able to rest and feel up to having people in the room. Having to be social immediately after giving birth just sounds so stressful to me. 
Would it be rude to ask them to wait even after they’ve made the trip?

Most hospitals won’t allow people in the room after you deliver. It’s called the golden hour. Just you, baby and dad. The nurses will also tell everyone to leave the room besides your support person (who you tell them when you get there it’s only dad) when it’s time to push.

I told my in laws that they can come sit in the waiting room but I don’t want to know about it lol my parents don’t think that we should have visitors the first day of having the baby so they probably won’t even come around.

Not rude, my mom gets to be in the delivery room but then she’ll be asked to leave & give us time alone with our baby until we’re ready for visitors.

You’re asking them to wait a few hours, not a few weeks. That’s 100% reasonable. 
Take all the time you want to yourself - don’t tell them “you can come two hours after” - just tell them “we’ll let you know first as soon as we’re ready for visitors!” 
We’ve told all of our family that no one is coming to the hospital at all this time; they can wait until we get home. I was really overwhelmed with visitors right away last time, so I definitely think you should be firm about the time you need/want for yourself.

I’m going through this with my family. They think they should be there while I’m induced and during even if they’re just sitting I. The waiting room. I told them they can wait wherever they want but they’re not coming in or near me until 2 hours after I give birth. They lost their mind over it but in the end it’s my choice and they can wait two hours or I’ll just tell the hospital I don’t want any visitors. They’re still pissed but won’t comment to me about it. It’s your time. I tried to let them know super politely but when they blew up I was so shocked they couldn’t respect that so do what you want to do.

Not rude at all. Tell your nurses that you do NOT want guests in the room during labor and until you are ready. Your husband can also relay this message of “ we are bonding, please give us space”

This is exactly how I feel about visitors. It doesn’t matter if they traveled or not. This is YOUR time with your baby and fiancé. Let them know how you’re feeling and your wishes. Hopefully, they will understand and respect you. I made it very clear to all family that no one except my fiancé will be at the hospital until we’re ready and even then, it’ll be a quick 20min or less visit just to meet her. I have it in my birth plan and will also let the nurses know.

Not at all Rude. I am having a scheduled C-section and my inlaws are coming form out of state to be witht he kids while we are in the hospital. I am scheduled to have the baby at 9 am and I have asked that they wait until after lunch to come to the hospital. I can always call them if i am ready sooner but this gives me control over the first few hours.

Not rude at all, they should respect that you guys are becoming a family. I feel the same way with visitors, I want alone time first and once I’m feeling up for it than we will allow people to come visit.

Not at all. Also, are they staying with you at your house when you go home with baby? That may end up being even more stressful than having them in the hospital.
