Baby shower?

I love seeing everyone’s photos of there baby showers, in the Uk the aren’t a big thing, what do you do at them, how come you decided to have one if you had one? 
Not being rude or trying to upset anyone just want to ask

I’m just having one to bring family and friends together to celebrate. It’s my first baby. And a bunch of people want to help out and bring clothes and diapers and such for the baby. Just to help make sure we’re ready for him.

A baby shower is to help you out when you have a baby. You usually only have one with the first baby and you invite everyone you know and they help you get all the necessities, stroller, car seat, crib, mattress, bottles... ect.  And also a fun way to celebrate baby coming into this world lol... usually you do little games and you provide food and cake for your guess and prizes for people who win the games this way you get a little you give a little. It's fun and very helpful for first time moms lol

Basically they’re mostly for a first baby to get essentials for you and baby from friends and family. You play fun games that I’m sure you could look up and find some. Your closest family and friends come to celebrate, eat some snacks, talk, and watch you open the gift they got for you and your little one. Sometimes people that are settled with careers and want to buy everything themselves done have them or don’t want/need them. I however am quite young not established so I needed all the help I could get with things for my baby. I think they’re cute and not at all necessary. However, they are a sweet gesture if someone is to put one on for you!

I would say its done to celebrate your upcoming baby and as well help you get stuff ready for the baby. You get a lot of gifts of things you need that really help towards the baby

As rude or mean as this is going to sound, we ONLY had our showers because we were begged to. My husband and I tried for 4.5 years before we got pregnant with this baby. Neither one of us wanted nor expected anyone to throw us one. We just want our baby lol. I have a feeling our family and friends knew that deep down because our showers were as little like baby showers as humanly possible. We played one game at both that had a prize and then, because I love bbq so much they had my favorite meals at each shower. We had the pool open for the one yesterday at our house and we just spent time with our closest friends and family as if it was just another bbq in my backyard. Everyone could have come empty handed and I still would have been perfectly content and happy with just eating and laughing with loved ones.

I’ve been thinking this as also from the UK. I’m having a little meal out with my friend as a final get together before little one comes along. There won’t be any games or decorations- well I’m hoping not being the centre of attention is not my thing at all and I can just imagine their faces if I gave them a list of gifts I wanted 🤣🤣. Nothing wrong with it but definitely not the done thing here. Back in the day people used to have wedding gift list but even that’s fell out if favour - I haven’t seen one or heard of anyone doing one in years. Saying that my mil did ask what she could buy. I said nothing,  she then offered to buy the cotbed which is lovely. I think there’s more a culture of grandparents/ close family maybe offering to buy a big item but that up to them to offer. I was surprised how late you seem to have your Shower planning/hosting a party at 35 weeks pregnant is hardcore!! I don’t mean any offence it’s just different cultures I guess. I love seeing all the hard work and thought that has gone into the themes and everything  I hope you all enjoy your Baby Showers 💜💜💜
