Help! Bottle Addiction aftermath!

So we finally kicked the bottle habit. My daughter used it almost like a pacifier. She would have one at bedtime, naptime or just for comfort, even while out of the house. She was drinking way too much milk, so we eventually transitioned to mainly water. She had milk in the morning, after nap and before bed, all still in her bottle. She would sometimes take water from a water bottle type sippy cup. But never milk. Fast forward, one day we lost 2 bottles and left one in the car . I told her we forgot it in the car and her daddy had it at work. She took her nap, no problem. I had the genius idea to go with it and chucked all her bottles after that and kept telling her we lost her bottles and she was a big girl now...blah blah blah.

Anyway, it’s been over two weeks now and she still refuses to drink milk out of ANYTHING! We’ve tried EVERYTHING!! Also, she’s still miserable! She cries every time before nap or bedtime. Not just whining, full on melt downs for at least 20 minutes each time and she’s just no longer herself. She just seems miserable. 😭 We even broke and bought new bottles while on a weekend getaway just so we could relax including her. (Terrible, I know! Desperate times!) But, It’s too late, she doesn’t want them anymore!! She no longer likes how they feel in her mouth! She has one water bottle sippy that she carries around. But that’s all she’ll take. And she still has such a hard time going to sleep now! Any tips or encouragement would be awesome! I feel like I was so embarrassed by people making comments about her bottle and that she’s almost 3, that I broke her of it before she was really ready for it. 😭

We did the same thing with my son. At like 18-20 months I just woke up one day and threw every bottle away. For months he refused to drink milk at all. I was so concerned I took him to the pedi but she said not to worry and eventually he’ll drink milk again. He only started drinking milk out of a cup maybe 3 months ago but got his milk in other products like cheese and yogurt. The same week we took the bottles away my son got his big boy toddler bed.

My son is still drinking milk from his bottle, for comfort also. And it is hard bc everyone wants to judge you for keeping it around. We don't bring it out in public, just use it for naps and bed. He won't be using it when he's 5 so I really won't push it for now. He's a little behind verbally (we're in speech therapy) so it's hard to explain something like that to Him. Im sorry you're facing such a dilemma. Can you order more sippys that she likes? Will she drink pediasure? Just to get the nutrition? Or can you sub yogurt and cheese so she gets her calcium?
