Does wearing slippers reduce bits in your home

Question

So my boyfriend parents drive me mad with this one thing 
They say wearing socks spreads bits all round the house so you have to wear slippers 
Not gonna lie I hate slippers they make my feet super sweety and give me atherlets foot almost instantly so I avoid wearing  
I think it's total nonsense as bits get stuck to any surface that touch the floor so I wanna here what everyone else thinks it's this a fact or is it total bollocks

I only wear slippers if im freezing cold. Ive never heard of this excuse at all

What are bits? And no I don't wear any type of shoe around the house, I rarely wear socks

I love slippers, but not cause they’re cleaner than socks lol. A shoe is a shoe. I just get cold easily and they keep my feet warm :)

To me the cleanliness difference between socks and slippers is practically non existent. And if anything I would say socks are better cos we wash and change them more often. 
But shoes vs socks/slippers is totes diff. My mom always wears her shoes in the house and it drives us all nuts it’s so gross who knows where those have been and now she’s putting them on the coffee table and couch🤢🤢 
But also, as far as I’m concerned, doesn’t matter what your opinion is here— if they prefer slippers in their house just do it, it’s basic respect

Maybe it depends on the surface because I honestly noticed today that it makes a difference in my house. I had things clinging onto my socks for the first half of the day so put on my slippers and tonight looked and there was only scuff marks on the bottom. Maybe it's got to do with the bottom of the slippers or something 🤷

our family wear slides around the house, but it’s to protect our feet from random little dirt and things (especially in the kitchen lol). we’re persian and it’s fairly common we call them dampayi. i believe the japanese have “indoor shoes” as well. maybs look into those? mine were like $3 haha
