Breastfeeding - how does it feel?

FTM here. Due in 10w...curious to know....the first time the baby latches onto you (how soon after birth?) And how did it feel!?! Like can you feel the milk coming out? Is it weird? Struggles?
Curious to hear your experiences (good and bad) thank you!!

The beginning is not going to be easy. 
Its going to be very painful. I would definitely look into a lactation consultant when you leave the hospital. Make sure you have nipple cream and use it after every feed. Baby will constantly want to be on the boob in the beginning. Some babies take longer to latch don't stress. Your milk will take a few days to come in and you will definitely know when it does. Your boobs will become very full and can be very painful. A good breast pump is much needed. When your baby is nursing you will have what's called a let down it can be painful but also just weird feeling. Your baby signals your boobs to produce more milk. So a let down is basically your boobs shooting milk everywhere. Some babies will gag when a let down happens so pulling baby off can help so they don't swallow too much too fast. One boob will product more then the other. So don't be surprised if baby prefers one boob over the other.
Make sure you drink a shit ton of water like more then you did when pregnant. And always have a snack on hand when nursing. You will feel hungry 24/7.

It was never painful or anything for me with either of my babies, but sounds like I am the exception. I could feel the colostrum and then the milk coming out, just feels kinda tickly/tingly. And when I have letdown, feels kinda like when your foot goes to sleep, but in your boob.

Painful. The first few weeks maybe even couple of months of breast-feeding were hell for me.. not many women talk about it but after connecting with several women during the first couple of months postpartum I realized it’s normal. As natural as it is it doesn’t feel natural and is not as easy as everyone makes it seem. If you really want to breast-feed you need to just stick with it and not give up but it is effing hard. Honestly, the beginning was a blur. Baby didn’t really want to latch and was always falling asleep and when she did latch, it was painful. It felt like my whole life revolved around this painful experience which certainly did not feel like bonding time. The first few weeks were brutal but I am so glad I pushed through! I have gained so much confidence, the pain is gone, and my daughter is happy and healthy. At her two week shots, I put her to the breast immediately after the injections and was able to calm her in minutes! I think it was a great comfort to both of us!
I suggest you meet with the lactation consultant at the hospital after birth. Our LC has been a great resource and actually runs a breastfeeding support group every Wednesday.

My daughter latched on within 15 mins after birth, we did the delayed bath. It’s colostrum until your milk comes in. Your nipples will hurt the first few days, use the nipple cream they give you- they’re just not used to it yet. When your milk comes in, if your breast is full you can slowly feel it being released.

My daughter did not eat the first 4 days after she was born she latched only once for about 5 mins. She had me super scared but she just wanted to sleep. Can't really feel the milk coming out while baby is latched but if u pump it kind of tickles when the milk comes out.  The first month or 2 is so painful. I would reccomend not using a bottle or paci. Once my daughter finally started to feed I made the mistake of using a paci in the car and she got confused and wouldnt feed from the breast for a bit but then figure it out again.

For me as soon and my baby latched I felt an instant connection/bond with the little life I created. I truly felt like a mom from that moment. 
But its tuff in the beginning. It's hard to get a good latch (some babies more difficult than others) luckily my girl was awesome at latching, it was just struggling to get a good position with a fragile little baby. Your nipples will get sore and chapped most likely so what 8 did is applied nipple butter after every single feed for the first 2 weeks (I got earth mama nipple butter because its organic and ok if baby gets it in their mouth) if you can power through the first few weeks it does get better. Also there is a lot of clusterfeeding and anxiety on if your baby is getting enough to eat. Just make sure to count your babies pee and poop diapers in the beginning to help ease your mind in the beginning if you on concerned :) 
Once you get established with your baby and get into a good routine it's very easy. There will be light at the end of it. Good luck!

Ill be short. In my experience prep a nipple shield in your hospital bag. If baby has problems latching you can always use it and if an emergency happens and they have to bottle feed you can always use it to teach baby to latch to boob. 
There are a lot of cheap good ones in amazon, you dont need the big name brands. 
My LO is 3 months and we're still using the shield and my supply is still very high. It was a rocky start but hes slowly weaning himself because he wants to feel the boob.

Ok so my nipples didnt hurt at all. My OB suggested that to adjust I have hubby suck a little on them to "toughen them up" for baby. I also have a higher tolerance for pain. My sil said it didn't hurt either so much as it felt foreign and took her a moment to adjust to having a baby latched on. It didnt hurt until a week in for her and about the same for me when the nipple started to feel raw and tender from constant use.

The baby should be placed on your chest after birth (assuming you’re both well) and they will start crawling around looking around for the nipple. Sometimes it takes them a little while. It doesn’t feel that strange really. At first you just feel a slight tugging feeling and it can be a bit uncomfortable and even slightly painful in the initial days. Once your milk comes in some people get a slight tingling feeling for several seconds when the milk starts coming out x
