Is anyone considering delayed cord clamping in there birth plans?

If your hospital doesn’t automatically do this, they aren’t up to date on WHOs guidelines on deliveries. And that’s no good.

My hospital does it after 60 seconds. I want to wait longer, like 5 mins, and I just need a doctors note to do so! There are sooo many benefits!

I don’t want to bank cord blood (read: can’t afford it) so I’m definitely interested in delayed cord cutting as long as it’s an option! From what I’ve read it can’t hurt, but has the potential for many benefits.

I’m a labor and delivery nurse and we delay cord clamp all births unless baby is in distress and needs to be cut ASAP.  Which isn’t that often we have to cut right away.

I planned to with my first, but my cord was so short they couldn’t even put my son on my chest for me to deliver the placenta so they cut it immediately. I plan to delay clamping with this one but know it’s possible for the same scenario to happen.

Delayed cord clamping helped both by babies. My second was a premie and they told me they were so glad I did delayed clamping because they think it helped him tremendously. I wait until cord is done pulsing.

I had a c section and she delayed the cord clamping for 30 seconds. Could have been a whole minute, but baby was breathing so they had to take her

I always wait until the cord has stopped pulsing. I don’t use a time just how ever long it takes.
