Can I lose weight by doing yoga?

I’ve done the BeachBody thing and realized I cannot motivate myself to workout if I stay home. The only form of exercise I’ve found to be effective for me thus far is Crossfit (yes, I’m one of those). I loved it but unfortunately when I was finishing my last two years of college I had to stop working out at the box due to increased credit hours and the fact that the box was closed by the time I commuted home. Since then I have gained weight and my hours at work have been a little inconsistent and I can’t afford to workout there at the moment...

I just signed up for a yoga studio but am worried it will not help me to achieve my weight loss goals.. what are your thoughts and experiences ?
