Daycare options

I live about 16 miles from where I work. With traffic this can be an hour long drive sometimes (generally about 45) during commuting times. Should I look for daycares close to home, or work? What would you choose?

Some days my husband works from home so he could drop the kid off but I’m probably going to do the pickup for the 2-3 days a week we need to use the daycare.

Separate note; some of the facilities I’m considering don’t have spots till July 2020. I need to return to work in February... what would you do for the time in between? Settle for a less-ideal daycare option, nanny, etc.?? Thanks!
