Recipe for longer sleeping baby? Have you figured out what works for you?

Honestly each baby can be so different. I’ve had 3 and none of them did well with the exact same thing. The only thing that was consistent about all 3 is that consistency is key. I have also found that babies are very noisy sleepers and as moms we tend to respond too early. If baby is grunting, moaning, or let’s out just a small and quick cry or two they don’t need to be responded to. Give them a chance to calm themselves and get themselves back to sleep without help (whether that be talking to them, offering a paci, nursing, etc). I also have found that not putting them down 100% asleep, but just really drowsy helps them learn to fall asleep on their own which helps in the middle of the night for them to put themselves back to sleep. Our youngest is 9 wks today. She started sleeping 6 hrs/night last week and is now doing 7 this week. She wakes up 2-3 times/night and gets herself back to sleep in 2-3 mins (without full blown crying - way too young for that!)

My recipe is something I learned from my cousin. Same bedtime routine since the day we came home from the hospital. Adjusting daytime naps and bed time as they get older but being consistent is what worked for us. When we got home we went up to bed at 630 every night no matter what. Nursed to sleep in the beginning. My milk dried with my current pregnancy so bottle to bed at around 7 months. We try to read at least 2 books every night. Our daughter is 1 now and we do bath if needed, Jammies, play on our bed with toys/books, bottle &snuggle, brush teeth, go in her room, fan on, nightlight stars, and rock in the glider. Lay her down, if she’s still up and fighting it I’ll sit in the chair till she goes to sleep. Some nights are a struggle and some nights are easy. She sleeps most nights from 730/8pm till 730/8am since she was about 8 months. So I truly believe in routine and consistency :)

Baby is 11 weeks old and somewhere around 11 lbs.  He nurses around 8 - 10 times a day.  We have a bed time routine that begins around 8:30 which is bath, massage,  jammies and a story while nursing in a dark room.  I read from my kindle app so I can keep it dark.  For several weeks he has slept for 8-9 hours straight with the exception of today.  I’m not sure what the heck went wrong.  
Baby’s temperament has a lot to do with it too.  I will say when he makes noises at night,  I don’t get him right away to check on him. I wait at least ten minutes to see if he will fall asleep or is just actively dreaming.

I Dnt know if it’s a recipe but i Dnt lay my son down stupid early . He has his last nap at 6
Pm and sleeps for a hour then gets up baths, plays ,diaper, them nurses and to be at 9/9:30 pm. He sleep all night ,dream feeds at 5 and then back down to bed till 7:30/8 am .

Routine routine routine. I’ve learned and of course have been told by mom, that a routine is necessary. Whether it’s feeding/eating time, naps, baths, reading time and sleep time. My son is 6 months and has his schedule pretty much down. 630 is dinner, 730 is bath reading a book and by 830 he is out. Of course a lot of moms are working as well or have school so it’s not always as easy. But I also know that not every baby is the same either. Good luck.

We’ve always kept the same routine and for the most part, bedtime hasn’t been too challenging! 
Diaper change, jammies, teeth brushing, get bottle/sippy & blankie, and then I’ll just lay next to him & usually his bottle puts him out. (Yes I know- some moms will probably freak about having milk on his teeth overnight, but I really don’t feel like it’s the end of the world, his teeth are healthy & plus thats just how babies fall asleep naturally - with milk) 
I always take the bottle though. Bub will be 2 in September, he’s starting to sleep full nights alone in his room!

Wr crib trained at 4 months. We found out she needed a. Ap at 9 to 945 and 1 to 3. If we do this, she sleeps from 6 PM to 530am (when I have to wake up for work.) Also, cluster feeding at night is a huge help. How old is your little?
