Toddlers and Autism

Ashley

I am struggling with the fact that there is a strong chance that my 2 year 10 month old son has autism. Not because I think autism is bad, but because i worry about how difficult and cruel the world already is without other challenging factors. He only has a handful of words, hand flaps, spins, does not like change in routine, and does not use gestures other than bringing me the snack he wants or his water bottle if it is empty. He also does not always respond to his name, this is usually when his show is on, and he does not make eye contact with some people. He does listen to basic instruction, does well with other kids, excels with routine, he is sensitive and rarely has hands on. I love my sweet boy so much. I am not opposed in anyway, we are on waiting lists to meet with specialists and to get him tested. I just am finding it very overwhelming to deal with right now, any other mommas going through the same thing or have children with autism have any advice?
