Single layer stitch vs. double layer in previous section

Elisabeth

I found out yesterday when I asked my doctor again about having a vbac, that he did a single layer stitch on my previous csection. I can tell he does not want me to have a vbac, but hasn’t ruled it out yet. I know it increase the risk more but just wondering if anyone has been in the similar situation. More info: would be 3rd birth- previous one natural, one csection due to placenta previa. 28wks and I go in for a scan at 32wks to check scar.

Did he say why he only did a single layer suture?

Ugh...I’m sorry. Yeah, for some reason I just assumed my dum dum OB did a double layer, but then realized it didn’t explicitly say so in the notes. This is a lot of info, maybe some of it will be useful: http://www.ican-online.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/The-Suture-Debate.pdf and https://community.babycenter.com/post/a40625527/single_layer_closure_success_stories#c2413683536
