Is it ok to get an induction?

Hey ladies.... so I’m about to be induced and everyone keeps telling me to let myself labor naturally.. induction is a dangerous process. I’m 39+3 and being induced due to health reasons. My doctor really suggest that I have it done for both of us...... but everyone keeps saying “let your body do it naturally” or that’s dangerous for you and baby..... just looking for some insight I feel so bad about needing one now

Inductions are done by doctors, they know what they’re doing! If a doctor thinks it’s in your and your baby’s best interest then it is! Don’t listen to the horror stories of being induced, focus on the fact you get to meet your sweet babe a bit sooner! 
I hate the mom shaming people are getting for being induced when it’s in mom and baby’s best interest!

Induction is not “dangerous” but it leads to c-sections and other complications more often than a labor that starts on its own. If your doctor is recommending it based on your health issue, you should do it. I think people are critical of those moms who choose to have an induction before 41 weeks or so when it’s not medically necessary (because they are tired of being pregnant or something) because it can lead to complications - when that isn’t something that maybe wouldn’t have happened if they had allowed their bodies to go into labor naturally. 
If you didn’t have any health problems, then it’s not wise to be induced before 41 weeks. But, in your case it sounds like the safer option. Good luck, mama.

I wouldn't worry about what other people say. If your doctor recommends it for health reasons, it is the best thing for you and baby. I don't remember the exact details, but my doctor actually told me there was a study that found it better for women to get induced at 39 weeks than to wait and possibly need one after 40 weeks

I was just induced(preexisting hypertension). I was nervous going into it, but it wasn’t as bad as the horror stories. They used the double foley balloon and inserted it about 6:00 pm on Tuesday, pitocin at 11:00, balloon fell out about 1:30 AM on Wednesday. It was pretty strong cramping before it fell out, but honestly my contractions weren’t bad until they broke my water at 1:30 pm and everything sped up, because they increased the pitocin to the maximum. The worst part for me, which had nothing to do with the induction was baby was sunny side up. I pushed for 5 hours. They ended up turning him during contractions, but he had a big head. 😂 He took his time coming out(which I was thankful for since I didn’t tear as much). But the actually induction wasn’t bad. And I did get an epidural (I was trying to go without) when I got to 7cm.

I was induced with my first at 40w 6d getting induced this time around as well I’ll be 40w 3days on complications I had was the pitocin made my hand swell up and I threw up once!! Praying this time goes as smooth

Of course it’s best for everyone’s health and safety to go into labor naturally, simply due to the fact that artificial induction increases the risk of c-section and other medical interventions. That being said, sometimes induction is safer for the mother and baby. The benefits of it outweigh the potential risks. I may need to be induced at around 39 weeks, and while I hope I go into labor myself before then, if it needs to happen then so be it. It can be a hard position to be in, having everyone try to insert their opinions when you’re trying to make the best choice for you and your baby. Especially in the age of the internet, when everyone becomes self proclaimed medical professionals. If you have a medical need to induce, then I’d suggest looking up positive induction stories, look at ways to labor comfortably, do things to lessen your fear of it. And try to tune out everyone else. I found that’s helped me.

I was induced w my first at 38
Weeks and 5 days for health reasons. I was concerned about my daughters and my own well being and so was my doctor. My end goal with a delivery plan is always “healthy baby, healthy mom” so I put the trust in my Doctor who understood the situation.
