Taking birthcontrol to have a period?

So i have to start taking clomid, but in order to do so, i have to have a period. unfortunately, my periods are sometimes 2 or 3 months apart. my doctor gave my birthcontrol to take to have a period, but doesnt that defeat the purpose of getting pregnant? has anyone else had to do this?

Once you go off the pill, you'll start bleeding. Did it 3 times to regulate my cycle during IVF

This is 100% normal. It also helps down regulate your normal cycle and prevent ovarian cysts, which can produce too much estrogen and cause a cycle to be cancelled.
