I’m a FTM so I’m trying to figure everything out. I’m currently 32 weeks and was wondering if it would be more beneficial to take two weeks off before my due date or to only take one. I know lots of FTM’s go over their due date and I don’t want to leave too early. I also don’t know how long I should be out. Is 6 weeks standard for an uncomplicated birth?

I work for a mom and pop shop so I don’t get a set amount of maternity leave, just however long I need/want. My husband also makes enough money to cover the bills while I’m out on maternity leave so that’s not a big issue either.

I’ve had a pretty rough pregnancy, to the point where I almost went into preterm labor at about 22 weeks, and I’m currently dealing with my abdominal muscles tearing instead of stretching which is extremely painful. I’ll be asking my OB this week if she has a recommendation on how long I should take off before and after baby but I wanted some others opinions!
