Can arm flapping be normal? My 16 mo does it from time to time not sure if it’s excited or frustrated..

It depends. If it's only out of frustration or excitement then its normal. However if it's all day and every day whether they are happy/sad/excited/angry/frustrated and so on then it isn't. Its called stimming. I have autism and I've noticed loads and loads of signs in my son too. This is one of them, but it happens from the second he wakes up until the minute he falls sleep. Its constant, and it doesnt happen with a certain feeling it's just all day long. But he also has plenty of other signs. So I wouldn't just go on this one sign if I was you. But if you are ever concerned do go to your health visitor/doctor. Dont always listen to others.

It can be normal for certain ages. At 18 months they’ll do an autism screening. As a sped teacher and parent of a daughter who does this I wouldn’t be concerned. Especially if it’s when she’s excited. That’s what my daughter did and she grew out of it but dr said it was normal
