Contractions?

I’m a FTM and I have no idea what a contraction feels like? I’ve been having period like cramps for about 2 weeks now I’m currently 38 wks 3 days. Are these contractions or just cramps?

I’ve noticed 2 types of contractions. One is period cramps and the other is just stomach tightening and feeling like it’s taking my breath away.

I’m 38 weeks and 3 days too!! I’ve been having period cramps as well. Idk what a contraction feels like either but I hear it starts like cramps than gets more intense
