Has anyone had gastric sleeve done?

I’m think about getting the gastric sleeve done. Anyone have it done? Anyone have any experience to what expect? Any info is appreciated 😁

I have. Somewhat painful recovery but totally worth it! It took me about three years to be able to go out and “eat” like an average person. Also. No one tells you the mental toll it takes on you (extra and loose skin, a new relationship with food, etc).

I haven't personally but I know a lady who had one, then gymmed her ass off and now competes in fitness competitions. It wasn't an easy ride and she needed a few surgeries to remove the loose skin but wow did she look fantastic.

I know two friends who had this done. One was about 2 years ago. She still is on a diet plan. Eating very little but every 2-3 hours. She has reached and maintained her goal weight. It was a very long difficult recovery for her. The other had done about one year ago. She initially lost just a bit of weight from not eating anything in the days after. Has since put all the weight back on. She looked at the surgery as magic fix. She didn’t change her diet/lifestyle. In fact was eating solids before doctors orders allowed. She thinks hair thinned from not taking the required vitamins after.

I was sleeved July 2017. I have a very easy recovery but I have had an extremely difficult journey. It is very mentally and emotionally challenging. Your support system (my husband, in my case) also has to make a change. If they aren't willing to do so, then the chances of backsliding are severe. I initially lost 135 lbs, I regained 30 lbs, and now I am SLOWLY working to lose again. I never reached my goal weight, I need to lose 80 lbs to get there.

Yup had it done two years ago, all the things Janelle said are spot on! It's amazing and I am so happy to have had it done but I have a lot of loose skin now and it's changed my relationships with other people and myself drastically! The recovery definitely wasn't easy either. Would do it again tomorrow though I've lost 70kg/154lbs and my whole life is different! If you wanna know anything specific feel free to message me :)
