TTC first time failed

So I’m new to this community I’m 27 years old no known fertility issues - but my partner and I BD my whole (what I believe was my ovulation period according to another app) and nothing I also got super sick the week after and had to take a bunch of steroids - so I’m wondering would this make a difference in conceiving that time because I swear I felt the implantation cramping. And for those that have been successful how long did it take to get pregnant any tips and tricks ? Also my partner is older but he has one child already... please help my type A brain is trying to connect and plan (although I know I can’t) give me something to distract and do while TTC...
