Epidural or no?

I'm trying to decide. I've been anti since I found out I was pregnant, I'm almost 35 weeks and my doc said today that he would never get a cavity filled without novicane so he doesn't know why any woman would go without an epidural. Now I've been stumped. I don't know what to do. I still want to try to follow through without but I wanna hear your thoughts!!! It's my first so tell me what you ladies think!!
