The worst thing you could say
Tonight my MIL was holding my 7 month old baby boy. My husbands entire family was over visiting at my in-laws due to my SIL and her family being in town. Both of her kids are college age. So, my visiting niece (18yo) and I were talking about a certain type of chocolate we both like. My FIL kept insisting that they had bought that kind of chocolate, and we were trying to explain that it wasn’t the specific type we were discussing - SUCH A RIDICULOUS CONVERSATION. My MIL suddenly starts yelling at my niece and telling her she’s wrong. I calmly ask my MIL why she is yelling and she starts accusing everyone of lying. I try to explain to her that it’s just a misunderstanding and she starts yelling over me.
I stand up, walk over to MIL who is still yelling and take my son from her. Nobody is saying anything- she’s just yelling. I calmly say, “we don’t want him to be around yelling” and I walk away. The whole room is silent and then she says, “then maybe you shouldn’t be his mother”
I KID YOU THE FUCK NOT
The rage inside me came rushing to the surface but I stayed so calm. I gently patted my husband on the back and said, “this is how your mother acts. We are leaving now,” and we packed up our baby and stuff and left. I’ve never seen my husband so crushed. I wouldn’t let him say anything because I could see how upset he was.
Fun fact: I literally never yell. It takes soooooo much to bring me to a point of yelling.
Also, i actually feel a sense of relief, as if I’ve been validated. She never says anything to me when my husband is around, but behind closed doors she is shady af. Finally they all get to see her for the witch that she is!
Finally, my husband is so upset. I’ve never seen him so sad. I’m not going to push the issue with him, I’m going to let him do his thing. I’m not really mad because I know I’m a great mom, and she just lies through her teeth. 🤷🏻♀️ I’m not losing anything!
