My baby survived a rattlesnake bite

We got home after work and found my dog on the front porch her head swelled up twice the normal size. We then noticed a Mojave rattlesnake coiled up in attack position in the corner of our porch she still had it pinned up to protect us. My husband got out the shovel while I called the veterinarian hospital. My husband killed the rattlesnake by chopping off its head. I described the symptoms to the hospital her head swelled up, and panting, we counted 2 clear strikes from the snake on her nose not sure if there were more hidden in her fur. They told me at this stage there is nothing they can do to save her it was to late, (especially with us being a hour and half drive away from the closes vet) she is better off staying here and keeping her hydrated. That’s what we did gave her all the love and attention we could expecting this might be her final hours. (She didn’t look good her head was swelled up double its normal size) My heart hurt knowing there was nothing I could do to save her.

I am sitting here weeks later with my baby and she is doing great. Somehow she survived this rattlesnake bite with no anti venom. I feel so lucky and realize what a strong and amazing dog she is.
