Cartilage piercingšŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜±

For the past year Iā€™ve been wanting to get my cartilage pierced and Iā€™ve also thought about getting an industrial piercing. I have two ear piercings as of right now but am kind of nervous to get my cartilage pierced because of the pain and the possibility of it getting infected. Iā€™ve heard of both people who take care of their piercings and people who donā€™t that get painful infections or weird healing issues that make me steer away from them. I am also 17 and live in South Carolina, so Iā€™m not sure if Iā€™d have to have a waiver signed or a parent with me to get it done. Any tips, ideas, or helpful information would help a lot! Also let me know which you would prefer, industrial or cartilage? Does one hurt more or are they about the same? What is the pain similar to? Sorry for all the questions but I want to know as much as I can before making the decision.

I have an industrial. I wonā€™t lie, it hurt like a bitch. Probably an 8/10 for me, but I also have a very very low pain tolerance. The healing also really sucks, I got it done Sept 2018 and itā€™s in the last stages of healing. BUT, itā€™s by far my favorite piercing. I love it sooo much and I would 100% go through it all again if I had to.

Also worth noting that the common gauge for an industrial is a 14g which is fairly thick. The common gauge for a normal ear piercing (i.e. something that would go in a piercing gun) is about a 20g. And a normal cartilage piercing is usually a 16g. Piercers will have different sized needles for this purpose. And remember that while it will hurt for a little bit, itā€™ll look awesome forever! So if you want it, just go for it.

iā€™ve had the industrial since march 2018 & i absolutely love it. wouldnā€™t trade it for anything although it hurt when i got it the pain went away soon after, unless i hit it or something. as long as you take care of it youā€™ll be fine. make sure to clean it good. i was able to sleep on mine the second night of having it. it also didnā€™t take but like a few months (3 maybe) for mine to heal nicely. good luck

I got double helix piercings, didnā€™t hurt much more than a regular ear piercing. Unfortunately it didnā€™t heal after having it in for 11 months. It never got infected but I started to get some hypertrophic scarring which was minimal, but the thing that sucked most was I couldnā€™t sleep on that side, put pressure cuz it would hurt/slowed down the healing process. My family sometimes would forget I had it and would press their hand on that area when theyā€™d reach for a hug and omg, pain. I wish I could do it again, but I ended up taking it out and it literally healed up in 2 days. šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø sucked but oh well. Everyone is different. It takes longer to heal cuz itā€™s an easy spot for your hair to get stuck in the studs and if youā€™re one to mess with it/twist it then donā€™t do it. Maybe an industrial would be better. And about age, I think you have to be 18 to get it on your own, at least where I live.

industrial will hurt more than cartilage, but if you take care of your piercing u should be fine. there are some instances where people are unlucky but thatā€™s not too common. if you really like it then you should be willing to take the risk because they are botch super cute piercings.
