What do labor contractions feel like?

I'm not yet pregnant but I think every woman is a little curious/scared out of their mind of actually giving birth. I've heard family and friends liken it to intense period cramps, gassy feeling, muscle tightness, and the urgency to toilet. What was your experience with labor pain?

Kinda like getting cut in half with a belt being cinched around your waist, and having to take the biggest poop of your life.

Think of the worst period cramps, the kind where you can't even stand up and feel nauseous...then multiply that by ten.

Bad period cramps worse than food poisoning in front and in lower back. I had diarrhea at 7 cm. I went from 1-7 cm in 1 hr and have to have c-section so I don't rupture but I thought they would never get me to the o.r.!

Mine started off as my stomach contracting and feeling like I had to take a massive shit. Then when I got to the hospital, I felt the worst back pain of my life.

Me is was more like I had to poop I swear it was like 4 o clock in the morning I'm in pain I felt this pressure to push I was pushing and I felt she was like moving like getting ready to come out I was like no it's time to go to the hospital by the time I got to the hospital I was completely dilated gave birth about 2 hours later that was my first born she is 7 now

Mine felt like I was holding a very long plank. My ab muscles were tight, and that's really the only sensation I had. I was up and walking around at 9 cm without having to stop and breath/moan through a contraction. I'd just be like walk walk, talk talk, "oh hey there's another one." It freaked my sister who had a hellish labor out!
