Has anyone breast fed but pumped for when your going out?

Question

So, I really wanna breastfeed my little one. However I’m just not confident doing it in public and around my family. Has anyone solely breast fed while at home and pumped when out of the house & still managed to do it that way? Or is it one or the other? Cause I’ll be at home 90% of the time!
I’ve said I’m just gonna bottle feed until I seen a lady on here that pumps and it just made me think, could I do that? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Totally doable. You still want to make sure you’re emptying breast in place of bottles otherwise your body will think your baby no longer needs that feeding and produce less. So just make sure when you get home you pump. Once breastfeeding has been established you will find a routine that works for you!

I definitely did both. It takes a little time to get a rhythm of both down but it’s totally doable. I pumped not only for when we were out but also so hubby and I could have date nights, so I could get sleep, and tons of other little reasons. Unless you are far more saintly than I am, you’re going to want a break occasionally, and pumping is a great way to allow someone else to care for baby besides just you.

I exclusively pumped for my daughter. Pumping is an entire production in itself but especially so in public. It’s certainly not impossible, and you find ways to make it work for you if it’s your goal. 
 
Pumping was difficult at times because I needed to pump every two hours or so to keep my supply up and prevent being engorged. However, it was amazing to be able to have someone else feed her if I needed a break or had to leave the house without her. With breastfeeding, your body and milk supply will adapt to the needs of the baby so it’s a lot more rhythmic.
There are a lot of benefits to both, and you will absolutely find something that works for you and baby!

I exclusively breadtfed (also in public, don't really care), but pumped when I was gone for a couple of hours and my husband had to feed the baby. I had no problems with that. My pediatrician had warned me that there was a change the baby would refuse the nipple after drinking from a bottle, but I had absolutely no issues with that.

Pumping outside the house is harder than breastfeeding. With breastfeeding, you can use a cover, pull down one side of the nursing top and bra and slide baby in. 
With pumping, you really have to get topless, hook up the pump and then put a cover over it, or a pumping bra so you can be hands-free. You kinda need a completely private space. Which is why employers are required to provide one to working moms who pump. 
If you’re just planning to pump at home ahead of time and give baby a bottle, that might work, but usually you and baby get on a schedule together. If you’re gone long enough for baby to be hungry, your breasts are going to become uncomfortably full and you’ll need to feed the baby or pump.
