Boyfriend Birthday gift

My boyfriend and i have been dating for 1 1/2 years and we are going away to college next month. His birthday is this month and I was thinking of getting these long distance touch lamps for us, but i’m kinda hesitant bc they’re really expensive and i’m scared that if we break up it will be a waste of money. I think it’s a really cute idea though. Any thoughts?
