September Induction Birth Story!
I was due 9/28. Induced at 40 + 1 on 9/29. I'm posting in October just to share my story. (Was induced for no medical reasons, but let it go as long as possible due to my brother in laws out of state wedding).
I was 2.5 cm last week and 80% effaced. 2nd child. When I got to hospital, I was almost a 4, still 80%, and baby's head was still pretty high up at -2.
Doctor broke my water (my choice ) I didn't need the cytotec or cervidil and I had a previous induction with cytotec.
Nothing happened for 2 hours, just leaked and mild mild contractions randomly. Then nurse started pitocin, low dose at 2? This was at 1:15 pm. Contractions stronger every 3.5 minutes. Able to still watch TV and talk. Breaks in between.
1 hour later, the RN checked me, I was at 5 cm. My pitocin upped to 3 then. For another hour or so, contractions much stronger and closer, every 2.5 minutes. They were painful. Difficult to talk, less time between. Was checked and at 6 cm. At t u is point, the pain was strong. I opted for the jacuzzi. Contractions were super painful, but the water was great. Relaxed more in between with my hubby's encouragement. This was between 4 pm and 4:30 pm. I felt a HUGE urge to poop. On one contraction, felt his head drop? Or tons of pressure. Got out... barely. Sat on the toilet through 2 contractions. Made it to the bed.
The nurse checked me at 4:40 pm and asked "what I wanted to be?!" I said a 9 or 10 or I gotta do something different! She said a 10!
Doctor came in right at that time. We did a "practice " push. Within 2 more contractions and a few pushes. My baby boy was in my arms! Hard, but worth it!
Mind you that I am a 2nd time Mom. Pushing was easier this go around. I pushed for 30 minutes with my 1st son.
Just a POSITIVE induction story for Mama's to Be!!! Natural is doable, even with interventions. GOOD LUCK! Every birth experience is different.
