Baby time?

My husband is leaving in the fall for deployment. We're thinking about not actively trying not to have a baby in the few months we have until he deploys. Are we crazy for thinking about this. Idk, I'm just looking for advice or encouragment or something. It would be our first and he'd be gone 6-9 months

We’ve done it. It’s not fun but it’s doable. And quite Frankly sometimes unavoidable, depending on your spouses position.
My husband and I have found that in the military sometimes if you wait for it to be convenient or better timing you may be waiting forever for your lives to happen. 
If you do send lots of pictures, write lots of letters. 
Just be sure you are both ready for baby.

Can you handle being pregnant without him? Going to appointments alone? If so, then I don’t see an issue. You may want him to be back by the time baby is born though so I’d only try the cycle right before he leaves. If it happens great, If it doesn’t well then spend the next couple months preparing for when he does come home and try again. My husband deployed 2 months before our second was due and thankfully his commander let him come home for the birth. We didn’t think he would be there. It was the most stressful thing for me personally. It’s all up to you guys. Tons of people conceive before a deployment.

I’m 5 months pregnant with our first and my hubby is on deployment. It’s not easy and we have our really hard days. He feels like he’s missing everything and it’s really sad to hear him feel left out. We decided that i would leave the big things for him to put together when he gets home (the crib), just to make sure he gets to do some of it. 
If you can handle being pregnant while trying to go through the stress of deployment, go for it.

If you both want to experience nursery decorating, baby shower, ultrasounds, finding out the gender, watching you and baby grow, etc together, I would wait until he comes home.
If you’re both okay with him not being present for all of that, as well as possibly being hard to get in contact with (which could fall at very inconvenient times), then go for it. 
Totally depends on if you’re both okay with you going through your first pregnancy alone and/or any issues that may come up. Some people don’t mind, others do. Do what’s best for you guys and your wants/needs.

Not it if it's your first baby. My boyfriend went to all our baby appointments for the first baby. It was great having him there for everything. Decorating the nursing room, baby shower, shopping for baby, birth. I couldn't imagine doing it all by myself the first time around. We weren't planning for #2 until he got back from deployment since I wanted to get back to my job (I'm AF as well and was pulled out of my job due to the first pregnancy). We were gonna wait but ended up getting pregnant again and he deployed a couple months later. I already knew how to deal with everything so not having him there wasn't as bad. He got back last month and now we're waiting on baby #2 :)
