I went to a follow up appoint mm with my obgyn after being in the ER three times for hyperemesis gravardium in one week and told her that they prescribed me Zofran. She told me to stop taking it immediately because it was being linked to many lawsuits for causing birth defects so I got home and instantly looked it up and this is what I found. It was used to help cancer patients after chemo treatments. Ladies please stop taking this medicine. It can really harm our babies that some of us worked so hard for and are so excited about !

Ive been on it since way before i found out i was pregnant and still am. My baby is 100 perfectly healthy . Its one of those thing if t happens to one person they have to report it . If it wasnt for zofran i probably wouldbt have made it this far (36 weeks) i have lupus and vertigo and ithas saved my life from being sick the whole time .

I have been on it since week 6 & currently I'm week 38 taking it twice a day. My obgyn recommended it & latter when I was hospitalized I was given the same thru IV. The doctor in the hospital said that to trust them & take the medicine & not be bothered about the law suits. Its individual prerogative to decide on it. I was scared after seeing the advertisements but I had no option to control my throw ups. I rechecked with my uncle who is a doctor & he said I can take it without doubt.

I was freaked out about it too and the reason why they did recalls on zofran was bc the label itself doesn't say that it may cause cleft lip or palate in the first trimester .. Since in the first trimester your baby's face is literally being formed , it could be either genetic that they get cleft lip/palate ,, I took it since like 10 weeks and my baby is perfectly fine .. My nausea and vomiting finally stopped 2 weeks ago and I'm about to be 28w in 2 days ,.

Its one of those gray areas honestly. If youre not taking it daily, it should be fine. In a case like yours with hg its a little different cause you would need it daily. My mom lived on it and i came out fine. A lot of drs will tell you to not take it daily either way.

I have taken it since week 6 of my pregnancy, now 26 weeks and my baby is perfect. It doesn't happen to everyone. There is no need to scare other moms.

On my third taking odansetron, all babies super healthy, no birth defects. I'd be more concerned that your in is referencing lawsuits for get information.

I took ondansetron my entire pregnancy due to HG and my baby boy was 100% healthy the whole way through my pregnancy and it’s 100% healthy now. I couldn’t of got through my pregnancy without it. I am going to be trying for baby number two in my next fertile period and I’m planning on using it again as I will need to cope with my 2 year old. I was told there was no evidence to support that  ondansetron causes no defects however, there has been no cases or if there has very very few reported where babies had defects. I actually had two miscarriages prior to taking ondansetron where I couldn’t not keep fluids or solids down at all. Whether this was linked or not I don’t know but my healthy pregnancy was on ondansetron. This is just my opinion but I think there’s always a very small risk with everything, not taking any medication is also a risk. ❤️ good luck HG guys !

It's an anti-nausea medication, it's not just prescribed for cancer patients. I've taken it many times because when I take a narcotic pain medication, it makes me sick to my stomach.

I took it and I 100 percent believe it caused my miscarriage @16 weeks
