Baby showers?

I have every thing I need for my baby I've been collecting for years lol. Is a baby shower really necessary?  Has anyone ever has a little get together after the baby came instead of before?

I plan to have a "beers, BBQ and baby" party, not a baby shower as such but a good way to catch up and celebrate your pregnancy without the traditional baby shower feel!

Have a diaper party and ask for diapers and wipes only. You can never have too many of them and can always take back and swap sizes as need be.

You can do something after if you want. It's called a sip and see. People will still want to get you things since baby stuff is cute and little.

I would imagine that you'll be exhausted once the baby comes, as you'll be trying to keep up with everything and start a new routine. If you want to have a celebration that includes friends and family, what about a gender reveal if you plan to find out the sex? Or even just host a get together and call it a "pregnancy celebration" with snacks and stuff. I don't think a shower is necessary if you don't want to do it, but there are other things you can do to include friends and family if you wanted to.
