will i be okay?

hey guys! so im considering piercing my septum this year (im 17) and my parents will FLIP. school is considerably okay though, as long as i flip it up but i don't know what to do.

it's fair to say that i will be alone most of the time this year as i have to study all the time for my university entrance exam which is in a year.

im worried about three things:

1- my parents finding out

2- infections

3- being in a lot of pain even after a month or so

this is my nose and i don't think people will see it from sideways if i flip it up

what do you think?

If you want it to be flipped up I’d ask the piercer to do it when you get pierced because you want it to stay pretty much in the same spot for healing so constantly flipping it up and down will irritate it. You also may need to be 18 to get it. Every shop I’ve been to you have to be 18 to get any piercing unless you have a parent to sign for you. But anyway nobody will see it unless they’re looking up your nose.

As for the infections concern you should be fine as long as you keep it clean and don’t constantly flip it back and forth

so my family is anti facial piercings so i got my septum pierced as a compromise for myself. you won’t be able to see it flipped up unless someone looks up your nose. I would also recommend keeping it flipped up while it’s healing for a couple weeks because constantly moving it up or down will irritate. It shouldn’t get infected if you’re cleaning it regularly. Mine did hurt a lot while it was healing but only if my nose got pushed, so unless your parents are constantly touching your nose, you should be fine. one last thing, when you do have it flipped down, don’t forget about it when you get home. that happened to me a few times. I was able to say it was fake and would just pull it up next time i came out of my room lol

i read that you should clean it with saline solution and some say expensive piercing aftercare sprays and some say just boiled water! what did you use and how did you clean the piercing? with cotton pads or q tips? also, did you use the horseshoe ones or a retainer?

I got mine done this past December. My mom was against it, but being 22 she can’t really do anything about it. I have a high pain tolerance when it comes to piercings, so getting it pierced didn’t hurt to me. For about a month it was sore & hurt if it got bumped. I would keep it flipped up during the healing time. I used sea salt and warm water. Stir it together & used a qtip to clean it.

Tbh, I don’t remember. I asked my fiancée and he says he don’t think so. It might’ve been red for the day
