Is it crazy to ask this guy if he thinks anything will happen between us?

matched w this guy on tinder way back in April, we've been snap chatting ever since (he initiated), we're eachothers #1 best friends and literally reply in a minute if we're not busy. at the beginning he was really flirty but that dialed back quite a bit, he goes to a military college so we had to wait until last month to finally hang out and it went really well but we didn't kiss or hug or anything but he said he had a great time. we haven't seen eachother since because he's been in training and the circumstances of seeing eachother are kinda tough but we could see eachother relatively often when school starts back up. anyway, a few weeks ago I was kinda like hey are you interested in me bc I'm interested in you and he said yes he was and that he didn't think I was interested in him. fast forward to now and he's still not flirty anymore and neither am I because I feel weird. at this point it's been 3 months and I have other prospects (even though this guy would be my #1 choice) and I dont wanna waste my time, I just wanna know if he plans on seeing this go somewhere if possible. I just feel like it's kinda weird to ask since we've only went on one "date" but then again we've been in constant contact since April and he hasn't made super serious moves like asking for my #. :( don't wanna scare him off by asking - we're both college juniors btw
