Baby at 95 percentile for height. Will she be a tall adult?

Just curious how percentiles work.  Baby girl has been high height percentile since birth.  She’s at 95 percentile for height at 12 months old.  Does this mean she will be a tall adult?

Not necessarily... it just means she’s fall for her age. But that doesn’t mean that she won’t end up only being average height. It’ll probably slow down when she’s older

Not necessarily. My daughters were always off the charts from 1-6 years old and their doctor would say they were gonna be 6 ft 1. Their growth really slowed down around the age of 8 and now at 15 years old my daughter is only 5 ft 4 and my 11 year old is one of the shortest girls in her class

My son was in 100% until 18 months but at 18 months was in the 75%! So it definitely slows down!

I don’t think so. People grow at different pacing throughout their development. My friend is a year older than me and my twin sister, and she always looked like 3-4 years older because she went through puberty really early. She was probably a head taller than us and just much more developed. She stopped growing and really changing a ton physically by probably 8th grade, and I grew 3 inches my senior year of high school. We’re still good friends, and she’s maybe two inches taller than me now.

Not necessarily. I have two nephews from different sets of parents, one is about six months older than the other. The older one is "tall" in his country, and the younger is "average" in our country. However, when you bring the two together, the younger is a good two inches taller than the older (currently). As your baby gets closer to puberty, you'll be able to have their growth plates examined and that will give you a good idea of how tall they'll end up being as an adult.

It don't been that she will be but it's possible. My daughter was always in the 90s percentile as a baby/toddler and she still is at almost 11 years old an she is the same height as me which is 5ft5in
