Does it really matter being married or not?

Does it really matter being married? I am 23 never been actually married just living with my boyfriend which is my second partner.  I would loveeee to get married one day even if its not with him getting married is my dream. But does it make a difference in being married to you or not?

Yes and No. To me it made a difference. Its a silly difference because he would be with me still without being married, but there is something about making the public declaration and signing the papers that say now and forever, that made me feel so amazing.

If its not a big deal, or if its huge, there will always be a reason you feel that way and its a very individual feeling.

I didn't think being married would make much of a difference. I had been living with him for over a year. But there is a big difference in my experience. But it's hard to explain.

For me, not really, we live together, love each other, are having a baby together... It's kinda like we're already married. To me it's just a piece of paper that declares your love by law. We will be getting married which is awesome, but I don't plan on anything huge, we don't have a ton of money like that. I just want the dress, rings a few friends and close family and a nice dinner. Very small and close together, just us having a great time. I don't care about colors and bridesmaids and all the flowers and shit... Just us and our love.

I didn't think it would be as meaningful as it is. I never cared much about being married. I was very career and education oriented. My husband and I dated and lived together for about4-5 years before gettin married. I was 32 and he was 33. I thought nothing would change but it has bonded us together in the best way possible, it's amazing. I feel like we worked through a lot of issues prior to getting married which helped. We are expecting our first child this January. Don't give up on your dream. Marriage is a beautiful thing!

The only difference for us has been how we're declared on taxes. Technicalities! 
We already lived together and were planning long-term things together...nothing magically changed when we said 'I do!'.

it depends on your views, marriage is important to others whereas some
people, not so much. I often feel judged, sometimes on here, sometimes in the real world because we are trying for a baby but not yet married, we are engaged. we will get married but have decided to put babies first. I think if you love someone, why does it matter what you call them; boyfriend, fiancé, husband, shit head etc. 😊

No of course not. I'm not married. I'm 21 and have a beautiful healthy baby boy that is 2 months old. We have been together for 6 years. I believe that if you want to be with the one you love you will make it work. But it doesn't mean you have marry that person.

I personally don't think so but its up to you. I've been with my fiancé for 7 years, engaged for 5 years. The first 2-3 years of being engaged were stressful in that everything that could go wrong did and money just wasn't there to try to have a wedding. Now we've been pretty much living together for 2 years and we treat our relationship as if we were wife/husband. It's not that we don't want to get married anymore it's just that life has happened and I don't care about a wedding anymore. And to elope we'd have to take off work to go the court house to get our license, and get married there and honestly I'd rather spend our time off from work for doctors appointments and vacations and the like. But it'll happen one day, I especially want to be married when we have a baby since I want my child and I to share the same name as my fiancé.
