4 week ultrasound?

Hey everyone. So, I had a dating ultrasound done and I found out I’m a lot earlier on than I thought. I thought I was 6 weeks because of my first day of my last period but but the ultrasound she could only see the beginning of something (a dark black spot) and confirm a pee test. Is this normal? Is that what a 4 week ultrasound looks like? I found out later in with my other two boys so I’m just making sure.

The same thing happened to me last week. I went in thinking i was 6w3d and maybe saw a blur of a baby and a slight cardiac flicker. So looked to be around 5w. I left almost in tears and a stressed mess. I go back Wednesday to check for progress which my doctor felt confident about. I dont understand with all of the technology we have that we are still assuming due date based on LMP, not to mention it can take anywhere from 6-12 days for the fertilized egg to make it through your fallopian tubes. Almost a week there too. Hope this helps.

I had one done at 5 weeks, due to ivf, we only saw the yolk sac.
