Is anyone on Metformin?????!!!!

I NEED HELP!!!! I cant eat or drink anything without having diarrhea. I mean to the point I've lost 20 pounds in 3 weeks. I've begun to barely eat because of it!! My A1C levels were within normal range when checked before being put on metformin. But now idk what to do.  I take two pills a day. And today I've only taken my morning pill. I'm scared to take my night pill.

This is a VERY common side effect. I would definitely recommend talking with your doctor about this. I tried taking metformin and ended up having a severe reaction to it and had to go to the ER. Maybe try extended release instead of immediate??

Yeah, make sure you ease into it! My doctor had me on a dose of 3 pills, but told me to do 1 pill for 2 weeks, then 2 pills for 2 weeks, and then add the third! I was sick as a dog for MONTHS when I started it. But I switched to the extended release and felt so much better after that!

Same thing happened to me while taking Metformin If it wasn’t diarrhea it was nausea and vomiting. I was only on 500 mg a day. Apparently my body just cannot take that medication. Luckily there are other medications out there.Good luck to you and know that you’re not alone

I’m starting on the extended release 500 mg tablet today. Also have perfect blood sugar, just hoping it will help with my insulin resistance. One pill daily for one week, then two daily after one week, then three daily after two weeks. Any thoughts?

I was the same way... stop taking it and call your Dr...my Dr had to put me on the extended release one it’s easier on your body. I haven’t had any issues with the new one since I’ve switched!

Try to take one pill a day until you get used to it. I first started on 1000mg/day but had to cut it down to 500 until the side affects went away

I had similar troubles and I just halved my dose until I became used to it. Good luck!
